A Journey in Furniture Refinishing (Part III)

Violet Ewell, Blu Cabinet co-owner, is refinishing an old headboard for her guest bedroom. She will catalogue her adventure in a series of posts:


I actually finished the headboard sometime ago. We've been so busy with opening the new stores, I didn't finish this series! I got the ebony stain on the board and sealed it (which took forever to dry!).

I waited a long time for the headboard to dry to make sure the it would not stain my carpet. When dry, we moved the headboard into the guest bedroom and I completed the rest of the furnishings. And voila! A dark headboard for my black and white room (with red accent)!

Announcing new Sustainable Teak and Mahogany Collections

Blu Cabinet has worked diligently and are pleased to announce that several of our teak and mahogany collections are now International Environmental Furniture Network (IEFN)-supported through the entire chain of custody, from harvest to final production. Our IEFN-supported furnishings include our plantation-grown teak Pacifica living room and select mahogany Kipling dining pieces. Guatemalan designer Michaela Alvarez is coming to Blu Cabinet!

Michaela Alvarez, designer and author of "La Almohada: A Touch of Guatemalan Design," is coming to Blu Cabinet Gainesville and Blu Cabinet Decatur November 30th. Come and hear Ms. Alvarez share her Guatemalan design inspirations and read from her latest book, "Designing from Within." A book signing will follow. 

Michaela Alvarez is an author and interior designer. She loves using Guatemalan inspired fabrics and colors.
